The Windy City Exposed

I’ve never been to Chicago except for the random layover at the airport and I have to say that it is not a bad place to hangout.   Except for the humidity, I quite enjoyed Chicago and can’t wait for another chance to visit.  The food was extraordinary, the people were friendly and the architecture was beautiful.  I was especially taken back with the architecture since I study Interior Architecture.  It was amazing.  The mixture of old and new with the element of the river and lake was quite impressive.  It really is a beautiful city with lots of eco-friendly attributes with I always admire.

Here’s a few snip-its of the architecture and then onto the food!:

The Chicago skyline

I highly recommend this tour! I learned so much about the city and buildings.

This building has over 40,000sf of space!!! It’s huge!

This building curves with the river

This building also curves with the river

This building was made to look like a champagne bottle

These buildings had clock towers because in the past people count afford pocket watches

Heading out to the lake

Now the food!!!!!

This place had the most amazing food!  If you like pork…this is the place for you.  If you don’t, then look else where.  We basically ate the WHOLE pig! Bring your appetites, seriously! I wish this place was in San Francisco.  It would be one of my all time favorite places to eat.

The Purple Pig…simply amazing

Roasted Bone Marrow with Herbs from afar (I never thought I would like this but it was my favorite)

Jowl, Grilled Asparagus, Oyster Mushrooms & Fried Duck Egg (Beyond amazing)

Deviled egg with Arugula & Caper Berries

Bone Marrow close up…even better in person

Pig’s Ear with Crispy Kale, Pickled Cherry Peppers & Fried Egg

Pig’s Tail Braised in Balsamic

Pork Sweetbreads with Fennel & Apricots (Taste like chicken nuggets)

Pork Blade Steak with ‘Nduja & Honey (This was AMAZING…we couldn’t finish it because we had so much fun to eat)

You can’t go to Chicago without trying the true Chicago Style Pizza.  I couldn’t even finish I whole slice!  It’s a meal in itself.
