Guacamole Night

Why buy store packaged guacamole when you can make ten times better at home.  It’s simple, easy and quick.  You’ll look like an amazing chef with such a basic dish.  I usually prepare this dish when we’re having taco night or have some tortilla chips that need a little company.  So here’s your how to on this basic at home.

What you need:

  • 3 avocados
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of salt + pepper
  • 1  shallot
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
  • optional: 3 tablespoons of chopped of fresh cilantro

The basics of what you need (pictured above)

Scoop and de-pit the avocados in a bowl.  These were a not ripe enough but I was committed in making the dish.  You want avocados that are soft to the touch.

Press the garlic with a knife to release the aroma before minicing.

Mince the garlic and throw into the bowl of avocado.

Slice and dice the shallots and throw into the bowl

Dice the tomato, add salt and peper and lemon juice into the bowl.

Mash the mixture together but leave some chunks.  Unfortunately, the avocados that I picked weren’t ready so they didn’t mix as well as I had wanted.

Serve and enjoy!
